The word data comes from the same Latin term, which was used to express a "given document", since those writings were preceded by the place and time of their writing. Data, in turn, is a participle of the verb "dare", in the sense of "to give".
In its most general use, the date refers to the date on which an event occurs or took place . Sometimes the location is also included.

In documents and epistolary correspondence, it is important to record the date (place and date) where they are issued or signed, especially for probative purposes, for example: "It is essential that the date of death be placed on the death certificate , so that relatives can request the opening of the succession", "The prosecutor denied that the death of the victim occurred a month ago, since there is a letter sent by him, whose date is twenty days ago" or "The date of the receipt payment is prior to the expiration of the term, so the debtor could not be in default.
It can be used in a more general sense, to talk about past, present or future times, without specifying the date: "This is an ancient custom, my great-grandparents already practiced it", "At present, the relationship between parents and children is more informal” or “In a future date, technology will advance even more”.
Derived from the Latin "datum" it is used as a synonym for data or information , which come from a source, which are used for any investigative task and for computing they are basic to be able to carry out any process: "The scientist collected the data after arduous observation and now you will experiment on it" or "With the data that I have stored in my computer , I will carry out the statistical calculations".
In the musical sphere, there is a rock band in Costa Rica called “ Inconsciente Colectivo” whose third album in 2003 was titled “Data”.
data concept
Data is a masculine noun that comes etymologically from the Latin word "datum" which translates as "given" or "established".
A piece of information is the primary element of information made up of symbols (letters, numbers, drawings, signs, gestures) that together can acquire meaning. Alone or isolated, the data does not have relevance, but used in the premises of a reasoning it can lead us to a conclusion . They arise from observation or experience . We see the height of a piece of land and we measure it, and thus we obtain data. We ask for a person's identification , and thus we obtain data on his name and surname and on his date of birth. We do a census, and we obtain data on the number of inhabitants of a place or their level of education .

Data is a starting point for gaining knowledge. They are used and highly valued in all fields, but especially in computing . They have no meaning isolated, but processed open a world of possibilities in the scientific and cultural field in general.
The data is objective, through which value judgments are not expressed, but are a cut of the observable reality. The data must be compared to have them as valid, because from false data, false information will also be created.
When we say I have a piece of information that can help you solve the problem, we are offering certainty to solve an unknown. For example, in a simple rule of three problem, we have three facts and one that we need to find out from those known facts.
examples
"I have a piece of information that they gave me from a good source, that tomorrow the government will announce a tax increase", "I would like to know what the weather data is, to know how to dress", "They asked me for my personal information, in the request of employment, to be able to identify myself and contact me", "I have little information about how to do this job" or "I have to find out information about the place where I am going on vacation, so as not to be surprised".
Specific types of data
Statistical data are facts or observations expressed in numerical form, which are used to carry out comparative studies. To lead to valid information, the data must be clear and relevant.
Computers have databases, where both data (people's date of birth, height of a mountain, size and weight of an animal, date of some historical event ) and available information (data already processed, for example information about climate change ).
de facto concept
The expression "de facto" is Latin "and means in fact. It is what happens in reality even without being endorsed by legal regulations. It is a concept opposed to "de iure" which translates as "according to law."
It can be given, for example, in the following cases. In a cohabitation union where the couple lives under the same roof and starts a family, without formally registering it as such or as a marriage ; in the case of a Judge when he must decide a matter, and he does so by analyzing the de facto situation , that is, the specific facts that are presented to him for analysis and resolution ; or when a position is held in a way not provided for by current regulations and standards: "The position of manager was de facto held by the owner's cousin, due to urgent matters, due to his sudden death."
A particular case and where the term is most used is in de facto governments, where the political authorities of a State assume command without respecting the legal procedure established for that purpose. In representative democracies, the government must take office by popular vote. If this does not happen and control is taken by force, through what is known as a coup d'état, the new government thus constituted will not be legal, but de facto. In practice, the rulers, even if they are not legal, exercise power.
In Argentina, the military dictatorships that exercised de facto power during the 20th century managed to validate their decisions by the work of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation. As of the constitutional reform of 1994, the acts of a potential de facto government (those that are prohibited, being those who exercise them considered traitors to the homeland) will be null and void.
Another case of de facto government is when it is exercised due to being in a situation of power vacuum, when for some reason the government is absent indefinitely (headless) and without having left a legal substitution in it, which in general is unlikely. The power vacuum has been used as an excuse in the Argentine military coups to overthrow the ruler, blaming him for not really exercising command.
